What is Fact and What is Fiction where health and fitness are concerned.
We've all learned things about information that turns out not to be true, health and fitness facts and myths are no different really. As you probably know myths begin when one person carries something they heard even if only partially heard on to a third person who then carries it to someone else. Maybe they even didn't hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.
You've probably heard the statement about metabolism boosts and the length they can last, this is not always a full truth. You will not burn the calories after the workout that you would expect with this type of metabolic change. This is because the increase in metabolic rate is not as high as some might claim. The rate is not that big nor is the calorie burn.
Sweat is another subject in this series. A lot of people think that sweating means they are working out well. Most also believe the flip side of that too. In fact sweat is simply your body's air conditioner. There is not a direct correlation between amount of sweat and degree of physical exertion.
It is possible to burn a huge amount of calories without ever breaking a sweat. It's easy enough to burn calories with simple walk.
The interesting thing is you can burn up a ton of calories and never sweat! You'll find a good walk can do the trick. Significantly reduce your chances of developing serious disease symptoms with diet and exercise which is proven effective by many researchers. It's no secret that exercise has great effects on cardiovascular health. You can also affect a positive influence on other conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and joint and bone diseases. Exercise and healthy lifestyle choices can also help slow the aging process.
